For this i would suggest you that you see and observe the desired university brochure in which you are taking admission as there would be clearly written as what is the eligibility criteria and you can simply be clear about your doubts. As it depends upon and differ from university to university so you have to keep a look upon it. If they demand physics as a subject then yes it must be passed.
