Most Computer Engineering programs in Germany combines core concepts of Computer Science, Information Technology, and Electrical Engineering. This shift in focus is majorly due to the advancement in technology where the ‘actual computers’ are diminishing from the world, while more and more of them are being embedded in devices ranging from mobiles to airplanes. Hence, there is a need for computer engineers with a sound knowledge of software and hardware, and multiple interdependent technologies.

Most German universities design their curriculum in such a way that the students have practical hands-on formal experience with tools they need to keep abreast of changes in technologies. With project-oriented courses, they gain insight into designing and building computer and network systems.
