Government of India introduced the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya scheme under the national policy of Education in 1986. Presently these Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas JNVs are spread in 28 states and 7 union territories of India. These schools are run by the government of India through an autonomous organisation known as the The runs co-educational residential schools financed and administered by the government of India. It holds Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya selection test at class VI, every year to enrol students in their schools.
